Easier Doesn’t Mean Lazier

Breaking down tasks can sometimes feel like adding more to your plate rather than simplifying things. The Easier Doesn’t Mean Lazier handout from Embracing Brains is here to shift that perspective! Created by Megan, a neurodivergent occupational therapist, this printable uses task analysis – a method to identify and remove barriers in activities, making them easier to manage.

Inside, you’ll find real-life examples and easy-to-use tips to help different brains and learning styles. Because let’s be real – sometimes adding tools like calendars and reminders just creates more work (or they get added to the shelf of forgotten planners)! This handout focuses on adapting tasks so they actually work for you, rather than piling on extra steps that make life harder.

By using these strategies, you can make daily tasks more accessible and less overwhelming – proving that making things easier isn’t lazy, it’s smart.

🚨 Important Reminder: These resources belong to their original creators and can’t be shared, altered, or resold. They are made to support neurodiversity-affirming care and should be used with this in mind. They don’t replace professional support, so check in with a trusted therapist or specialist if you have any questions! 😊

Embracing Brains

If you’ve ever wished for resources made by neurodivergent people for neurodivergent people, let us introduce you to Megan from Embracing Brains - an OT with a big heart, a love of nature and videogames, and some seriously affirming tools to share. 💛🎮🌿

Megan is a neurodivergent occupational therapist based in Queensland and the creative mind behind Embracing Brains. She brings together clinical knowledge and lived experience in a way that makes her work feel so genuine, practical, and empowering. As someone who’s walked the path of both neurodivergence and hypermobility herself, Megan deeply understands how frustrating it can be to feel misunderstood or unsupported - and she’s all about changing that.

Through Embracing Brains, Megan offers resources that help people explore their identities, values, and sensory needs in a way that’s strengths-based and grounded in what actually matters to them. She knows that every nervous system is different (and that our lives and needs shift constantly!), so her work is all about finding what works for you - not ticking off someone else’s checklist.

You won’t find therapy services here in the Toolbox (that’s Megan’s gig in her own practice), but we are so excited to feature her neuro-affirming resources for both individuals and the people who support them. Her tools are equal parts thoughtful, validating, and playful - kind of like sitting in a sunbeam with a good cuppa while your dog naps next to you. 🐾☕️

Megan’s work reminds us that embracing our brains isn’t just possible—it’s joyful.
